7 DAYS • 10 MEALS

Glorious fall colors, wind-whipped sand dunes, and
an enchanting island paradise. these are just a few of the treasures that await you on our tour of Michigan’s autumn foliage!

Windy City Whirlwind

Our tour begins in the Midwest’s metropolitan center, Chicago. A fantastic sightseeing journey to some of the Windy City’s great architectural treasures is sure to please.

Sand Dunes and Soo Locks
Leave the big city behind for charming Traverse City, Michigan, known for its sparkling beaches and charming shops. Sleeping Bear Dunes was named for an Indian legend. These expansive golden dunes stretch for more than 64 miles along the twinkling blue waters of Lake Michigan.
The largest waterway traffic system in the world, the Soo Locks were originally constructed in 1797 as part of an effort to connect Lake Superior and the Great Lakes. During a narrated cruise along the lake’s international shoreline, we’ll experience the thrill of “locking through” the canal as these remarkable engineering structures lift our boat 21 feet up to the level of Lake Superior.

Step Back in Time
A trip to Mackinac island is a like trip back in time. From its bluff cottages to its quaint horse-drawn carriages (no cars are allowed on the island), this peaceful resort offers a glimpse into life during a simpler and more genteel era. This historic setting offers guided tours of beautifully preserved structures from the island’s rich past as a fur-trading outpost. History buffs may also enjoy exploring Fort Mackinac, a national landmark first constructed during the American Revolution.
We stay two nights at the majestic Grand Hotel, an elegant structure that makes staying in as tempting as going out. Enjoy a stroll on the 600-foot front porch, take afternoon tea at The Grand, or enjoy the evening air from the hotel’s perfectly manicured gardens.

A Bavarian Welcome
Raise a stein of good cheer in Frankenmuth, also known as “Michigan’s Little Bavaria.” Stroll over Zehnder’s Holz-Brucke, a 239-foot replica of an authentic 19th-century covered bridge, and visit the charming Bavarian-style shops that line the streets. A trip to Bronner’s Christmas Wonderland, a shopper’s dream-come-true, is a Michigan must.
